Mario Malinconico, is one of the co-founder of Agribiom s.r.l. a start-up, born in 2018, winner of the first edition of the Circular Economy Network award intended for new businesses generated by research that carry out activities in the circular economy. Is CNR researcher since 1983, since 2004 has been Research Director at the Institute for Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials of the National Research Council of Pozzuoli, Naples. Since January 2017 he is President of the Italian Branch of the International Solid Waste Association www.iswa.org . Is in charge of the polymer synthesis and chemical modification laboratory of synthetic and natural polymers. In 2013 he was awarded the IUPAC Distinguished Chemistry Award 2013 at a ceremony held at Shanghai’s Fudan University. In 2012 he was appointed member of the Board of Directors of UNIPLAST, the Italian regulatory body for plastics. In 2004 he won one of the three “St Andrews Prize for the Environment” awards for the environment for his studies on biodegradable polymers of natural origin. Since 2002 he has been coordinator of the Commission for the Environment and Cultural Heritage of the Italian Association of Macromolecule Science and Technology (AIM). Author of 170 scientific papers in international journals, 15 patents and numerous chapters in international books and manuals. Reviewer for various international journals on polymer chemistry and technology.

Fabio Fava is Full Professor of “Industrial & Environmental Biotechnology” at the School of Engineering of the University of Bologna (Italy) since 2005. He published about 170 papers on peer-reviewed international journals in the fields of Biowaste Biorefinery, Blue Biotechnology and Bioeconomy, where he coordinated the FP7 projects NAMASTE and BIOCLEAN and participated in the FP7 projects ECOBIOCAP, ROUTES, MINOTAURUS, WATER4CROPS, ULIXES, KILL SPILL and BIORICE. He is currently the Italian Representative at the European Commission (Brussels) in the: a) Horizon2020 Programming Committee “Food security, sustainable Agriculture and Forestry, Marine and Maritime and inland water research, and Bioeconomy” (SC2), b) “States Representatives Group” of the “Public Private Partnership BioBased Industry” (BBI JU) and c) EuroMed GSOs BLUEMED initiative WG. He is the technical/scientific Coordinator of the Italian Bioeconomy strategy and of the national coordination group for Bioeconomy at the Presidency of Council of Ministers (Rome). Finally, he is the Italian representative in the Working Party on “Biotechnology, Nanotechnology and Converging Technologies” at OECD (Paris).
